The DropTimes Study Shows 80% of Top 100 Universities Utilize Drupal
A recent study conducted by The Drop Times, based on the QS World University Ranking, highlights findings on the use of the Drupal content management system (CMS) across top global universities:
- 80% of the top 100 universities utilize Drupal on at least one of their websites.
- 24% of the top 300 universities use Drupal as their primary website CMS.
- 67% of the top 300 universities, equating to 200 institutions, implement Drupal in some capacity.
- In the United States, 95% of universities in the QS Top 300 Ranking employ Drupal, with 70% managing 10 or more Drupal sites.
However, the study also encountered challenges, noting that the CMS used on university homepages could not be detected in 46% of cases, and in 33% of the universities, Drupal usage was entirely undetected.
The Drop Times is calling on the Drupal community and individuals within universities to help fill these data gaps by participating in a survey and sharing their Drupal experiences. This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Drupal's adoption in academia.
