Mathias Bolt Lesniak, a TYPO3 Association board member, recently attended the DrupalSouth conference held in Wellington, New Zealand, from May 17 to 18, 2023. As part of the Meet TYPO3 initiative, Lesniak visited to discuss open-source collaboration and to explore the synergies between TYPO3 and Drupal.

The DrupalSouth conference, a prominent regional Drupal event, took place at the iconic Embassy Theatre in Wellington. During the conference, Mathias Bolt Lesniak delivered a presentation titled "Open Source, Seriously," where he highlighted the importance of open-source content management systems (CMS) collaborating rather than competing. Lesniak stressed the need for clients to choose open source, which he described as a pivotal decision when up against proprietary systems. He also noted that Drupal and TYPO3, both open-source CMS systems, share a considerable number of core Composer dependencies, indicating potential areas of mutual inspiration.

Lesniak's participation in the conference underscored the value of cross-CMS collaboration and the potential for open-source projects to learn from one another, fostering innovation and growth in the industry.
