A recent update to Drupal Commerce's integration with Stripe, known as Commerce Stripe, has been released, offering enhanced support for payment processing. The blog titled “Commerce Stripe release adds Apple Pay + Google Pay support” by Ryan Szrama in Centarro development of this integration has benefited from contributions made by various team members, including improvements to the Card Element for Drupal 9/10 and the Stripe Connect implementation on Drupal 7. However, this summer, Centarro, a Drupal development agency, took the initiative to expand the module's capabilities, with multiple merchants funding specific features. The focus of this update centers around the Payment Element integration, which is now available in the 8.x-1.1 release. This Payment Element is an embedded iframe in the Drupal Commerce checkout form, offering support for a wide range of payment methods, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as strong customer authentication like 3D Secure.

The Payment Element is particularly valuable for businesses targeting mobile users, as it helps increase mobile conversions. For example, Apple Pay and Google Pay support have become essential for reaching customers who predominantly use mobile devices for online shopping. The Payment Element integrates seamlessly with Drupal Commerce, allowing for the same management of payments and payment methods as traditional credit card payments. Merchants can now offer a smoother and more convenient checkout experience to their customers, especially those on mobile devices.

Merchants interested in leveraging this enhanced Stripe integration should note that it is available exclusively for Drupal 9/10 users. Those using earlier versions can seek support from Centarro to facilitate their upgrade process, ensuring they can take full advantage of these new payment features within Drupal Commerce.
